BUIES CREEK - Two more Camels were selected on the third and final day of the MLB Draft. Ernie Day was taken in the 14th round, 427th overall by the Seattle Mariners, and Daniel Brown in the 16th round, 476th overall by the Chicago Cubs. 

Campbell's four draftees this year ties the program record for a single season when the 2019 team had four drafted as well. This season marks the first time four players have gone in the top 20 rounds (2019 draft lasted 40 rounds). 

Ernie Day became the second Camel this season to be drafted by the Mariners. The pick continues a growing pipeline from Buies Creek to Seattle, now as the third player in the last three seasons (Spencer Packard, 2021) to be taken by the organization.  

Day was drafted after his first season in Buies Creek, having previously spent two seasons at Iowa Western. Day made two starts on the mound early in the year before shifting to the bullpen for his next 12 appearances.

The righty posted a 6.75 ERA and struck out 28 in 21.1 total innings of work. He fanned a season-high six in each of his two starts, and struck out four in just 2.0 IP against UNCW out of the bullpen later in the year.

Daniel Brown was taken two rounds later in the 16th and the 476th overall pick by the Chicago Cubs. He became just the second Camel ever selected by the Cubs, and the first in the modern draft era (Earl Stephenson, 1967 January Amateur Draft).

Brown features an electric delivery, touching 102mph on the gun during the season. The lefty made four appearances and had his best outing of the year against Winthrop, striking out the side in order flashing an 85 mph slider to compliment the heat. 

The duo brings Campbell's draft total to 48 all-time and 16 since Justin Haire took over the program in 2015.
