Two Camels earn CAA Awards

BUIES CREEK - A pair of Camels earned CAA Weekly Awards in the final home weekend of the regular season. Aley Clent was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week, and Maja Daca earned Co-Rookie of the Week.

Clent shined during her senior weekend, posting 12 total blocks and putting away 18 kills in a weekend sweep of Northeastern. Clent saved her best performance for last, tying a career high with nine blocks on senior day, including four in just the fourth and final set. Her blocking efforts helped CU to 17 total blocks, the most for the team since 2022.  She was just as good on offense, with nine kills in each match and hitting .471 for the weekend.

Daca was outstanding across the court in the final home weekend, posting 20 kills, 19 digs, and four aces to keep her among the nation's leaders in the category. She just missed a double-double in both matches, starting with 8 kills and 10 digs Friday. She also tallied four aces, three of those coming in the first seven points of the match. The rookie logged 12 kills and 9 digs in the home finale, hitting .320 in the contest.

It's the first time since joining the CAA that Campbell has earned multiple league awards in the same week, and marks the sixth and seventh awards for the Camels this year.

The first-place Camels visit NC A&T to wrap up the regular season. First-serve Friday is set for 6 p.m. with the season finale on Saturday at 4 o'clock.
