Hall of Fame basketball standout shares his memories

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Nearly 40 years ago, Brad Childress arrived in Buies Creek as part of Billy Lee's first recruiting class.

The son of a college coach, Brad was a North Carolina East-West all-star game selection after graduating from Albemarle High School.  Not only did he immediately move into the Camel starting lineup, but he led CU to the Big South title game twice in four seasons.

He concluded his career as the first player in Campbell Division I history to record more than 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals.

Brad followed his father into coaching at both his alma mater and Lenoir Rhyne College before leaving the profession and moving into the pharmaceutical sales profession.  In 2011, he was inducted into the Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame.

In the next episode of Tales from the Creek, Fighting Camel Hall of Fame member Brad Childress talks with Stan Cole about growing up the son of a coach, his path to Campbell, playing for and later coaching the Camels and much more.
