Goral named Coach of the Year, Wolkow, Daca on first team

BUIES CREEK - Greg Goral was named CAA Coach of the Year, while Gwen Wolkow and Maja Daca both earned first-team all-CAA honors in the CAA's annual postseason awards. Daca, a true freshman, also landed on the all-rookie team.

Greg Goral earns conference Coach of the Year for the second time during his 13-year tenure, and for the second time in four years. He first won it in 2022 in the Camels' final season in the Big South.

Goral's Camels were picked 10th out of 11 teams in the CAA preseason poll and finished as champions with a share of the regular season title. The Camels nearly flipped their record from a season ago, going 6-22, 4-14 a year ago, to 21-6, 13-3 this go-round.

Gwen Wolkow closed her career in style, landing on the CAA First Team. The senior was a three-time CAA Player of the Week during the campaign, and finished fifth in the league in kills.

The Downers Grove, Ill. native logged a pair of 20+ kill matches, including a career-best 24 at UNCW. She also had four matches of better than .400 hitting, including hitting .731 against The Citadel to carve out a place in the program's all-time top 10.

Wolkow's defense was steady at both levels, tying for second on Campbell in digs, and finishing third in blocks.

Maja Daca became the first Camel to earn first-team and all-rookie honors in the same season since Sarah Colla in 2018.

Daca lit up the service line and sits sixth nationally (first in the CAA) in aces per set (0.60), and third among all freshmen in the country. Her aces/set mark is on pace to be a program record in the 25-point rally scoring era.

The Warsaw, Poland product finished second among all Camels in both kills (267) and digs (207), logging five double-doubles on the year.

Wolkow and Daca are the first pair of Camels to both land on the first team since 2022, when Claranne Fechter and Melody Paige both landed on the Big South's first team.

The Camels have their sights set on the CAA Championships. Campbell earned a first-round bye and await the winner of 3-seed Towson vs 6-seed Stony Brook. Campbell's postseason journey begins Friday night at 6 p.m. in Towson, Md.
