Camels host Huskies for three games over the weekend

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Following a week away from the diamond, the Camels are back at Jim Perry Stadium for a weekend series against the UConn Huskies.
 
Campbell (6-10) is coming off its first series win of the season, taking two of three games against Texas State. Currently, Campbell's strength of schedule ranks 20th in the country according to WarrenNolan.com.
 
After dropping their first five games of the season, the Huskies (5-8) defeated Long Island on Tuesday in their first home game of the season. Last weekend, they took two-of-three against Miami.

Promotions
Friday: Jersey Night – Mini jersey rally towels will be given to the first 300 fans at Jim Perry Stadium. There will also be a fan raffle to win a baseball jersey from the bookstore.
 
Saturday: Baseball Bingo – The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a baseball bingo card. The first 10 fans with bingo can claim prizes from the marketing table.
 
Sunday: Faith & Family Day – Fans can bring in the day's church bulletin to receive five dollars off their ticket price at the ticket booth.
 
Sunday: Kids in the Creek Day – After the game, kids can go on the field to run the bases and receive signatures from several Campbell baseball players.
 
Series History
This will be the first time the two teams have met.
 
Know Your Opponent
The Huskies own a 5-8 record, with all but one game being on the road. According to WarrenNolan.com, the Huskies have the seventh-hardest schedule at this point in the season. The team is top 100 in the country in batting average (.292), slugging percentage (.460), scoring (7.9 runs per game) and home runs (20), but their team ERA of 7.51 is sub-200.
 
Tyler Minick leads the team with a .436 batting average, six home runs and .974 slugging in 10 games.
 
Oliver Pudvar is making his third start on the year, and Cayden Suchy is slated for his first start in his sixth appearance on Saturday. Brady Afthim has had a strong start to the year out of the bullpen. He's pitched 7.2 innings in five appearances thus far, with 10 strikeouts, five hits and no earned runs.
 
Jim Penders is amidst his 22nd year at the helm for his alma mater. The Huskies advanced through the Norman Regional last year, falling in the Super Regional to Florida State. Excluding the canceled 2020 season, UConn has participated in every NCAA tournament since 2018.
 
New Faces in the Creek
Campbell has new faces up and down the roster. Headlined by the coaching staff additions of Coach Marx, Coach Stone, Coach LaRue and Coach Kramer, the Camels welcome 23 newcomers on the roster.
 
Murray earns CAA Recognition
Friday starter Jake Murray was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week on Monday, following his career-high 14 strikeouts in last Friday's win over Texas State. Murray pitched six innings and did not allow a hit, giving up just one walk and two hit batters. He struck out at least two Bobcats in each frame.
 
Taking One for the Team
The Camels lead the CAA and are 15th in the country in hit-by-pitches, with 39. Darnell Parker Jr. accounts for nine, leading the conference.
 
CAA Preseason Honors
Dalen Thompson and Andy Schuldt were named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as honorable mentions.
 
Century Club
Across the 2022 & 2023 seasons, the Camels recorded 100+ doubles, home runs, stolen bases and HBPs. They were the only team to accomplish this feat in either year. In 2024, Campbell recorded 112 home runs, 103 doubles, 98 stolen bases and 96 HBPs.
 
National Leaderboard
When Campbell's 2024 season ended, they were 8th in home runs, 12th in walks, 17th in slugging percentage, 20th in runs per game, and 23rd in OBP.
 
Replacing The Sheriff
The Camels are looking to replace the production of Lawson Harrill, who led the team in every major hitting category and set a new school record for career home runs (51).
