Wolkow named CAA Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK - Gwen Wolkow was tabbed CAA Player of the Week after a stellar weekend performance earned her Queens Fall Classic MVP honors as well.

Wolkow tallied 48 kills on .418 hitting for the weekend along with 27 digs, the second-most on the team.

The senior's best performance featured 21 kills on .731 hitting in just three sets against The Citadel, both good for top-10 marks in program history. Her 21 slams are the seventh-most in a three-setter for the Camels, while her swinging clip marked the eighth-best hitting percentage in a match in program history. At one point, Wolkow was swinging at a .904 clip (19-21) without an error.

The night prior, Wolkow helped propel the Camels to a victory in a five-set thriller at Queens with 19 kills on .318 hitting in the match. The Downers Grove, Ill., native was also crucial defensively to route UNC Asheville, chipping in a team-high 14 digs to go with eight kills in the opening match of the weekend.

Wolkow is the second Camel to earn conference Player of the Week honors in as many weeks, following Maja Daca seven days ago. It marks the first time ever that Camels have gone back-to-back with conference player of the week honors, and the first time since 2022 (Big South) that two different Camels earned the award in the same season.

The award is Wolkow's first Player of the Week award, and first weekly award of any kind since nabbing Big South Freshman of the Week in 2022.

The Camels return to action Friday in Evanston, Ill. to face St. Thomas, before squaring off against Northwestern on Saturday.
