Campbell travels to NC A&T for first CAA road trip

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball travels to North Carolina A&T for its first conference road trip of the season. The weekend series begins on Friday, March 13 at World War Memorial Stadium and games will be streamed on FloCollege.

LAST TIME OUT 

  • Campbell dropped a midweek contest. 13-5, to Charlotte on Tuesday at Jim Perry Stadium. 
  • Charlotte got out to an early lead in the first and never looked back. Four Camels tallied multi-hit performances as they out-hit Charlotte 12-10. 

WEEKEND WORK

  • Campbell picked up its first series sweep since its swept the three-game set with Valparaiso during the 2024 season. The Camels secured all three games against William & Mary this past weekend. The sweep also marks the Camels first conference sweep since joining the CAA three seasons ago. 
  • The Campbell pitching staff was stellar on the weekend tallying 35 strikeouts, four walks, and holding the Tribe to an .165 batting average. The staff allowed just eight runs on 16 hits in 27.0 innings. 
  • The Camels outscored the Tribe 23-8 and only trailed for three innings all weekend. 
  • The squad swiped a season-high nine bags marking the most since the 2023 season when the Camels stole nine against Tulane.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Campbell and NC A&T meet for the 26th time in program history. 
  • Campbell leads the overall series 21-4. 
  • Campbell has a 7-2 advantage in CAA play. 
  • Campbell is 8-2 in the last 10 matchups and are 9-2 all-time in Greensboro.

  • Be the eighth of the 2026 campaign 
  • Be the 33rd win under head coach Chris Marx

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

  •     NC A&T comes into the matchup 3-13 overall and 1-2 in CAA action. 
  •     The Aggies picked up the win in the conference opener over Elon, 2-1
  •     NC A&T is led by Ben Hall who enters his 12th season at the helm 
  •     Offensively, the Aggies are led by Nick DiCarlo who boasts a .386 average including 22 hits, two triples, three doubles, and six RBIs. 
  •     The Aggies placed three on the CAA Preseason All-Conference Team including infielder JT Taylor, outfielder Bruce Wyche, and relief pitcher Diego Barrett. Tyler Smith was named honorable mention. 

SIMPSON SWIPES

  • Simpson tied the single game program record with five stolen bases in Sunday's matchup with William & Mary (3/8). 
  • The Clinton, Iowa native, has reached base in nine straight games and ties for the team lead with four multi-hit performances. 

CARLOS CONNECTS

  • Freshman Carlos Lugo leads the squad posting a .283 batting average. Lugo has registered 13 hits including three doubles, five runs scored, and four runs batted in. 
  • Lugo went 3-for-5 with a run scored on Tuesday against Charlotte. 

MILESTONE TRACKER

  • Redshirt junior Andrew Schuldt is on the hunt for his 100th career RBI and run scored. 
  • Schuldt is one RBI away and needs to score just four more runs to reach the milestones. 
  • The Cornelius, N.C., native reached the 100 career hits marker last season against NC A&T on May 2. 

CAA RANKS

  • Lukas Schramm leads the conference with a .714 slugging percentage and is fourth in OPS (1.057). Schramm also ties for a conference lead four home runs.  
  • Joey Morton ties for second-most doubles in the conference with five 
  • Joe Simpson and Andrew Schuldt tie for third-most walks in the conference, drawing 11. 
  • Simpson is third in the CAA with 10 stolen bases in front of Elijah Clayton who ranks tied for fourth with eight. 
  • Mason Smith's 3.94 ERA is good for tenth-best in the conference and is 10th in opposing batting average (.226). He has allowed the fifth fewest runs (7) and leads the conference with the fewest walks allowed (2). 
  • David Rossow is eighth in opposing batting average (.214). 
  • Cooper Clark ties for the fifth-most strikeouts (20). 
  • Jett Music is second in the conference with a pair of saves on the season.

  • Campbell is set for a pair of midweek contests against Duke (3/17) and #16 Coastal Carolina (3/18) at Jim Perry Stadium. First pitch of both games are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege.
