Camels head to Charlotte for midweek action

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball four-game road swing begins at Charlotte for a midweek matchup on Tuesday night at Hayes Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT 

  • Campbell dropped its first conference series of the season after falling on Friday and Sunday against Elon. 
  • The Camels picked up the win over Elon on Saturday, 7-1, as David Rossow allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings pitched.

  • Campbell and Charlotte meet for the 33rd time in D1 program history.

  • Campbell opened CAA play going 16-2, tying the best start to conference play in program history through 18 games.

CENTURY MARK

  • A trio of right-handed pitchers including David Rossow, Zach Sabers, and Mason Smith eclipsed the 100 career strikeout mark this season. 
  • Rossow picked up his 100th career strikeout at William & Mary on Friday while Sabers picked his up at sixth-ranked North Carolina and Smith secured his against UNCW. 

DAVE'S DEALING

  • Right-handed pitcher David Rossow has been dealing all season long and leads the squad with eight wins and 2.48 ERA in 54.1 innings pitched. 
  • On the weekend, Rossow picked up his eighth straight win tossing seven innings allowing one run on four hits and picked up his second-most strikeouts of the season (12). 
  • After giving up a lead off homer, Rossow did not allow a runner to reach third base throughout the entire game and struck out the side twice in the contest.
  • Rossow is third in the league in ERA, second in opposing batting average (.184) and strikeouts (70). 

CARLOS CONNECTS

  • Carlos Lugo leads the squad with 16 multi-hit games and is batting .343 with a team-high 49 hits. He has collected 23 RBI and 28 runs scored.
  • Lugo is 10th in the league in batting average and is third in the league in hits. He also ranks 18th nationally in toughest to strikeout.
