NASHVILLE, TENN. - Garrett Fanchier allowed just one earned run
over seven innings of relief and Belmont swept an Atlantic Sun
Conference baseball series on Sunday from visiting Campbell with a
14-6 triumph in the finale.
Fanchier (3-2) scattered 8 hits over seven innings and the Bruins
(26-24, 12-11) rapped 17 hits off 6 Camel pitchers. Frank Zier
(4-8) suffered the loss for the Camels, lasting just one inning and
surrendering 4 runs (2 earned) off 4 hits.
Campbell (26-26, 6-18) had 13 hits, but left nine runners on base.
Chris Bangi and Noah Zipko led CU with two hits apiece. Bangi
extended his streak to 49-straight games in which he has reached
base via a hit, walk or hit by pitch.
Tim Egerton and Phillip Parsley both finished 2-of-4 with 3 RBI for
the Bruins, who improved to 22-8 in home games this year.
Belmont swept Saturday's doubleheader by 4-1 and 9-7 scores to
eliminate the Fighting Camels from contention from the six-team
A-Sun tournament. On Saturday, Camel junior Ellis Lowe smacked his
30th double of the year to break the school single season record
set in 2009 by Zach Johnson.
Campbell returns to action on Tuesday at Longwood (6 p.m.) before
hosting A-Sun rival Lipscomb on Thursday (6:00) and Friday (1:00
DH) to close out the season.
