Getting To Know Carrie Baker

Carrie Baker is in her first season with the Campbell track & field program in 2017-18 and is in her first year of studies for a Master of Business Administration in the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. The Beford, Pa., native is a pole vaulter for the Camels and has competed in two meets thus far this season, including the ETSU Invitational and Keydet Invitational. Baker has a season-best mark of 3.15m in Johnson City, Tenn., on Jan. 13, which is just 0.05m off of her lifetime best.

Why did you decide to compete in track & field: It is a desire that I've had since I was in high school. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance to pole vault again.
Who was your greatest influence growing up: Both of my parents because they encouraged me to do my best both athletically and academically and taught me the value of hard work.
Other sports played: Gymnastics and soccer

Favorite track & field event to watch: 400m
What is your favorite memory during your track & field career: Getting to pole vault at the PIAA state track & field meet
What professional track & field athlete would you like to compete with: Usain Bolt. Simply to have the ability to say that I got to run beside him
Which professional athlete would you most like to meet: Nastia Liukin because she was one of the athletes that I looked up to most while growing up.
What do you like to do in your free time: Bake desserts and cook dinner for my friends
What is something that your teammates may not know about you: I drink coffee like its water and love trying out new coffee shops wherever I go.
