BUIES CREEK, N.C. - No. 30 Campbell (3-1-2) hits the road Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. trip to South Carolina (2-3-1) on ESPN+.

South Carolina – Despite out-shooting the Seahawks 14-8, the Gamecocks dropped a 2-0 decision Tuesday at UNCW.

CAMELS STAY IN NATIONAL POLL: Despite a winless (0-1-1) week, Campbell was ranked No. 30 in this week's College Soccer News Top-30 poll.

SOUTH CAROLINA PREVIEW: The Gamecocks were picked fourth in the Sun Belt preseason poll.  CU stands 0-1-1 vs. SBC members this year, including a 1-1 draw vs. Coastal Carolina and a 2-0 loss at Old Dominion.  Eight different Gamecocks have scored this season, led by Logan Frost (2).  South Carolina owns wins over Big South members USC Upstate (2-1) and Winthrop (4-2).

SERIES HISTORY:  Campbell and South Carolina will square off for just the second time in CU's 60-season men's soccer history.  In the only other meeting between the teams, the fourth-ranked Gamecocks, whose lineup included future U.S. National Team fixture Clint Mathis, downed Campbell by a 4-0 margin in 1995.

BIG SOUTH LEADERS: Kemy Amiche tops Big South Conference leaders in points (10), is tied for 1ST with Jalen James in goals (3) and shares the league lead in assists with Tyler Young (4).  James, Daniel Hernandez and Young are T3rd in points (6).  Sean Ellis is 2nd in shutouts (2) and goals-against average (1.17).

YOUNG POINTS = CAMPBELL POINTS:  Campbell stands 15-0-3 all time in matches when 2021 Big South offensive player of the year (and '22 preseason offensive POTW) Tyler Young has at least one point, including a 2-0-2 mark this season.  In addition to scoring the game-winner vs. UIW, he notched a pair of assists at HBU.  Young led the Big South in 2021 with 27 points (9G, 9A) and was an All-South region selection.

PLAYING IN FRONT: Campbell has not trailed at any time in five of its first six matches - wins over Incarnate Word (3-0), Houston Baptist (3-1) and Davidson (2-0) plus draws with Coastal Carolina (1-1) and VCU (3-3).   ODU scored in the 25th minute in its 2-0 win on Sept. 9, ending a string of 384 minutes that CU had not trailed.

HOME, SWEET HOME: The Camels stand 27-2-6 in their last 35 matches at the Eakes Complex, including a 0-0-2 mark in this season.  Under 8th-year Coach Dustin Fonder, Campbell is 42-17-7 in Buies Creek.

HEAD COACH DUSTIN FONDER (Roanoke, '94) is in his eighth season at Campbell (76-46-14 overall, 37-16-4 Big South).  His overall head coaching record stands at 154-109-32, including a 78-63-18 mark in eight seasons at High Point.  In 2021, Fonder was named Big South Coach of the Year for the 2nd time in 3 seasons and 4th time overall.  He has guided CU to 5 Big South trophies and 3 NCAA apeparances (2018, 2019, 2021) in the last four seasons.  He was also named Big South Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010 while at HPU.
