Camels head to The Citadel on Sunday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Off to a 4-0 start in Southern Conference action, Campbell travels to The Citadel on Sunday, February 5 for a 2:00 p.m. dual at McAlister Field House.

The Camels (13-8, 4-0 SoCon) have won five of their last six outings, including a 3-0 SoCon sweep last weekend, outscoring Presbyterian, Davidson and VMI by a combined 104-21 score. CU defeated Presbyterian 36-9 and Davidson 43-3 in its home finale on Saturday before taking down VMI 25-9 on the road Sunday.

The Citadel (5-3, 1-3 SoCon) is coming off a 31-6 loss against Chattanooga last weekend. The Bulldogs will host CU after taking on Davidson on the road on Friday.
Campbell has won seven straight over The Citadel, dating back to 2016.

Against PC, Camels reeled off five straight victories to defeat the Blue Hose, including a pin (2:44) from No. 29 Domenic Zaccone at 133, a 10-2 major decision from at 141 No. 32 Shannon Hanna, and a 15-0 tech fall (3:05) for Troy Nation over at 157. Chad Nix finished off the 36-9 win with a first period pin (0:42) for the Camels.

Campbell then raced out to a 34-0 lead over the Wildcats in the second half of the twinbill, starting the match with five straight bonus point wins, including a pin from Hanna (2:45). Zaccone added a 19-4 tech fall (6:22), while No. 25 Anthony Molton at 125 and Chris Rivera at 149 tacked on major decisions for the Camels. At 197, No. 29 Levi Hopkins also closed out the match with a first period pin (1:47).

At VMI, Campbell built a commanding 25-3 lead with seven consecutive wins, highlighted by Levi Hopkins' 10-2 major decision at 197 pounds. Camels took two of the match's three overtime bouts, including Dom Baker's 3-1 win at 165 to start the day, and Chris Rivera's 4-2 win at 149.

Six Camels are nationally ranked in the season's first NCAA coaches' panel. Molton is ranked No. 25 at 125 pounds, Zaccone at No. 29 at 133, and Hanna at No. 32 at 141, with 184 pounder Caleb Hopkins ranked No. 28. Levi Hopkins is also No. 29 at 197, while Taye Ghadiali rounds out the list for the Camels at No. 13 at heavyweight.

The Camels will continue their SoCon slate on Friday, February 10, at Bellarmine.
