Men finish second, women fourth at CAA Championships

ELON, N.C. - The Campbell men finished second overall while the women finished fourth at the program's first CAA Outdoor Championships. It was a stellar day for the Fighting Camels, setting eight meet records on the track and another in the field en route to 10 first-place finishes Saturday afternoon

Jamel Miller earned men's Most Outstanding Track Performer thanks to four gold medals, three meet records, and 25 total points. Jaidyn Ramsey earned women's Most Outstanding Track Performer with the 23.5 points, three golds, and three meet records. C.J. McBride earned Men's Outstanding Field Performer after earning two gold medals and setting a meet record.

The Camels started day two in style with both the men's and women's 4x100 relay teams setting the trifecta of records with a CAA, meet, and program record-breaking time. The women featuring Ramsey, Clayton, Brown-Muhammad, and Harris notched a 44.42. The men's group of Miller, Alexander, Ballard, and Miller followed suit with a 38.80 to blow away the field, nearly two seconds ahead of second place. The men's time was also seventh fastest in the nation at the time of the event.

Jamel Miller highlighted the day on the track for the men, with a part in four first-place finishes, two individual and two relays, and three meet records. In addition to the 4x100, he was part of the day's final event, the 4x400 that took the top time with another meet record at 3:06.40. He was joined in that race by Ballard, Skinner, and Jamal Miller. Individually, he set the meet record in the 200 with a time of 20.49, and won the  400 clocking a 45.63.

Jaidyn Ramsey had a big day for the women with three first-places finishes, two individual and the 4x100 relay. Individually, she claimed the top spot in the 100 with a blazing time of 11.26, good for a CAA, meet, and program record. She also won the 200, with a meet-record 23.28.

Jamal Miller stood atop the podium in the 100 with a time of 10.35, to give Campbell the top spot in both the men's and women's 100.

Chastity Pickett ran away with 400 hurdles for a meet record at 55.88, two seconds ahead of the next finisher.

C.J. McBride continued to dominate the jumps in the CAA, with a pair of gold medals today after a silver last night. He set a meet record in the high jump at 2.19m, and won the triple jump at 15.59m.
