The Camels take on North Dakota State on Friday in the first game of the event, and they will then take on the host UNF on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out: The Camels went 1-1 at the WellNow Blue Demon Classic, falling in overtime to Northern Colorado before defeating Grambling State by 16 points. Campbell held Grambling to just two points in the second quarter, continuing its trend of strong defensive second frames.

Rookie Recognition: Jasmine Nivar was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week on 11/24 for the second time in the first three weeks of the season after her performance in Chicago. She recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double against Grambling while also notching a career-high four steals. Â Â

Second Quarter Defense: The Camels' defense has proven extremely tough in second quarters through the early part of the schedule. CU is allowing just 8.85 points in second quarters, including lows of 0 to Virginia-Lynchburg, 2 to Grambling State and 4 to Western Carolina. Only Tulane, in the season opener, has scored more than 13 points against the Camels in the second frame.

Scouting the Opponent: NDSU has a 3-2 record, including an 11-point win over shared opponent Tulane in its previous game. Three players are averaging over 10 points, led by Avery Koenen's 18.4 mark. The team was picked to finish second in the Summit League, with Koenen and Jocelyn Schiller on the all-conference team.

UNF (1-4) will face Bethune-Cookman on the first day of the event. Each of their four losses have come on the road. The team was picked to finish 12
th in the preseason ASUN coaches' poll and 11
th in the media poll.

Series History: This is the first-ever matchup between the Camels and the Bison. Campbell and North Florida have faced off 12 previous times, with 11 of those matchups happening when the teams were both members of the ASUN. CU holds a 7-5 advantage.

Felton on Fire: Jasmine Felton was unstoppable against the Paladins, going 8-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 5-of-5 at the free throw line. At 52% shooting on the year, she ranks second in the CAA.

Leading the Conference: Campbell leads the CAA in FG% defense, holding opponents to 35.5% shooting. The squad is second in the league in rebounding margin (6.9), offensive rebounds per game (16.7), scoring defense (56.0) and scoring margin (11.6). The team's offensive rebounding mark is 25th in the country. The team is third in the league in scoring offense (67.6), three-pointers per game (6.3) and turnovers forced per game (20.29).
Ciara Alexander is second in offensive rebounds per game (4.6) - a mark that is 12th in the NCAA.
Jasmine Felton is second in the CAA in total rebounds (50) and Alexander is third (49).

Debutant Standout: Freshman
Jasmine Nivar was named the CAA Rookie of the Week this past Monday after averaging 13.7 points and 5.0 rebounds over the first three games. Her efforts continue a trend for Coach Fisher's squad, which won six CAA ROTW awards last season.

National Nivar: Jasmine Nivar was named to the Tamika Catchings Award preseason watch list by the USBWA. She is one of 20 student athletes on the list and just one of two from a mid-major program. Â

Freshman 20-piece: Freshman
Jasmine Nivar led the Camels with 20 points against Tulane. She's the first freshman to score 20 points in a season opener at Campbell. She became just the fifth freshman since 2009 to score 20 points in any game.

Preseason Accolades: Senior
Gianni Boone was named to the preseason All-CAA First Team. The Camels, who finished last year as the CAA runner-up, were picked to finish fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.

20 Win Season: The Camels went 22-13 last year, marking the fifth time in nine seasons that Coach Fisher has led the squad to 20+ wins.

Olivia Tucker and
Jasmine Felton, the top freshmen trio in the CAA last year, return for their sophomore campaigns in Buies Creek.

Impact Newcomers: Campbell welcomes a trio of freshmen to Buies Creek:

N'na Konate and
Jasmine Nivar. The team also brings in
Ashleigh Battle, a transfer from Eastern Florida State College.

A Summer Abroad: Konate and Nivar competed internationally this season. Konate participated with Switzerland at U20 Eurobasket, helping the Swiss to a 5-2 record in the tournament. Nivar played with the Puerto Rico U18 squad at GLOBL Jam.

Decade under Fisher: Head Coach
Ronny Fisher enters his 10
th season at the helm in Buies Creek. He has amassed a 176-105 record and has twice led Campbell to a program record 23 wins in a season.

Built on Defense: Campbell is the only program in the nation to be ranked in the top-25 in scoring defense in eight of the past nine seasons. In the
Ronny Fisher era, Campbell has held 42 opponents to 40 points or less and 109 opponents to 50 points or less.
