Camels open outdoor season at Elon

ELON, N.C. - The Fighting Camels opened the 2025 Outdoor Track & Field season with a strong showing at the Phoenix Invite. Three Camels stood atop the podium with numerous PRs set in the season opener.

Track
Hudson Hayes took the top spot in the men's 3000m with a PR of 8:51.00. He led a strong showing in the event that also saw Andrew Barrett finish fourth (9:04.46) and Brett Walston finish sixth with a PR at 9:06.11.

Mekhi Dupree supplied one of Campbell's top finishes on the track, taking third in the men's 400m at 50.11. Robert Wetherholt finished just behind in seventh at 50.46.

Craig Costa turned in a strong finish by taking third in the 2000m steeple chase, with a time of 6:33.43. Spencer Thompson grabbed sixth with a time of 7:03.71. Abby Reutinger had a strong showing in the women's 2000m steeple, taking fifth at 7:40.64.

Hayden Cobbs finished seventh in the 100m, clocking a 10.93. Campbell put two in the top 11 on the women's side in the event, with Ticora Gasking (12.49) finishing ninth, and Amanda Ballard (12.52) finishing 11th.

Field
The Camels nearly swept the podium in women's pole vault, with a trio of Camels finishing 2-3-4. Chloe Soorus (3.23m) took second, with Zoie Hembree taking third at the same mark. Isabella Bernard finished third at 3.08m. Nora Stroud also garnered a top-10 finish at 2.63m, good for ninth.

Reagan Wise claimed first place in the men's pole vault, clearing 4.70m, with Jacob Carrol joining him on the podium by clearing 4.10m.

Autumn Judd claimed the top spot in women's discus at a mark of 48.15m. Evan Brock finished third on the men's side at 43.71m.
