Two Camels earn gold at CAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Campbell men finished 8th and the Campbell women finished 11th at the CAA Championships held Wednesday and Thursday at NC A&T. The two-day event was highlighted by a pair of gold medals for Mekhi Dupree and Reagan Wise.

Day 1 Recap
Wednesday's action saw rain off and on throughout the day, resulting in multiple delays and action continuing deep into the night.

Reagan Wise captured the CAA title in men's pole vault clearing 5.13m to shatter his own PR and school record (5.00m).

Ticora Gaskin claimed sixth in the women's long jump at 5.66m.

Autumn Judd took 10th in the women's hammer throw, as did Craig Costa in the men's 3000m steeplechase.

Mekhi Dupree had a strong day on the track in prelims, clocking the top time in the 200m (21.06) and the 110m hurdles (14.18) to qualify for Thursday's finals.

Day 2 Recap
Mekhi Dupree found himself on the podium twice, including once with gold during Thursday's finals. The sophomore grabbed gold in the men's 200m at 21.19, and bronze in the 110m hurdles at 14.33.

The Camels have taken the top spot in the men's 200m two years in a row, following Jamel Miller's meet record of 20.49 last year.

Kaleb Johnson had a strong showing and just missed the podium in the men's high jump, taking fourth with a mark of 2.00m. Daniel Griffith finished top 10 in the same event with a PR of 1.95m.
