BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will open its 2024-25 women's golf season Monday with the Tiger Classic, hosted by Clemson at The Walker Course.
The 36-hole, one-day, 11-team event includes teams from nine NCAA Division I conferences, including host Clemson of the ACC. Campbell is the lone CAA school to compete in the Tiger Classic, while the Big South will have three teams participating.
Under the direction of head coach
John Crooks, who enters his 35th year in charge of the program, Campbell has earned NCAA postseason berths in 12 of the last 13 seasons. Campbell earned an at-large berth to the 2025 NCAA Lubbock Regional.
Among the top returning players for the Camels is senior
Isabella Hahne, a 2025 second-team All-CAA selection and the 2025 CAA rookie of the year
Fanni Gronlund.
Last year at the Tiger Classic, only team champion Georgia Southern (-17) and Campbell (-4) finished the 36-hole event under par. Host Clemson was third (+1) in the 16-team event.
Izabella Grimbrandt (70-73—143) earned her best collegiate finish with a 7th-place tie at one-under par. Gronlund tied for 10th in her collegiate debut at even-par 144 (74-70). Hahne (76-71—147) tied for 22nd, while
Taylah Ellems tied for 44th (76-75—151).

The Course – The Walker Course (Par 72, 6209 yards): Recognized by the South Carolina Golf Association as one of the best golf courses in the state, the Walker Course at Clemson University sits on the banks of Lake Hartwell and within a few strokes of the center of campus. Designed by DJ DeVictor, the Walker Course was recently awarded the designation of "Best you Can Play" by the South Carolina Golf Panel. The par 72 course features Diamond Zoysia greens and Bermuda fairways.
The Coach: Now in his 35th year as head coach of the CU women and first as Director of Golf,
John Crooks has been named league coach of the year 23 times in his tenure. His teams have combined to earn 37 NCAA post-season trips, including 16 straight appearances for the men or women. His teams have won 162 tournaments and with 100 career tournament titles, Crooks trails only Dan Brooks of Duke (143) on the all-time coaching victories list among Division I women's coaches. He has guided his teams to 27 league titles, including 19 on the women's side and eight in men's competition (from 1990-2025).
The Lineup:
Sophomore
Fanni Gronlund (Kirkkonummi, Finland) was named the 2025 CAA Rookie of the Year and WGCA All-America Scholar. Over the summer, she won the Finnish U-21 stroke play national championship. She was the highest ranked freshman (No. 433) by more than 100 places among all CAA golfers last season. Grondlund tied for 10th place at the 2024 Clemson Tiger Classic (74-70—144) and CAA Championship (76-75-73—224), while compiling a 74.6 adjusted scoring average and a 75.57 overall stroke average over 10 events. She played par, or better, golf six times, including a collegiate low 2-under 69 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
Senior
Isabella Hahne (Kungsbacka, Sweden) ranks 8th on the school career scoring average list (74.45) with six top-10 finishes in 30 outings. She has produced 22 career par, or better, rounds. A WGCA All-America Scholar and second-team All-CAA performer last season, she compiled a 74.0 adjusted scoring average and 74.57 overall stroke average. Hahne was the individual runner-up last fall at The Southern (71-72-72. She was the 2023 Big South freshman of the year.
Freshman
Linn Svedlund (Uppsala, Sweden) will make her collegiate debut in the Tiger Classic. She has one victory and nine top 10 finishes in World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) events. Svedlund won the 2024 Swedish Invitacional GolfTech tournament in Spain and finished in second place at the Stenson Sunesson Junior Challenge. She was ranked sixth among Swedish U18 girls.
Red-shirt senior
Izabella Grimbrandt (Stockholm, Sweden) is a two-time WGCA All-America Scholar and has competed in 22 events while compiling a 76.01 scoring average during her Campbell career. She competed in six events and posted a 77.1 stroke average in 2024-25. Grimbrandt registered a career-best T7 finish at the 2025 Tiger Classic (70-73—143).
Junior
Jade Potter (Edinburgh, Scotland) competed in six events last season, including the CAA Championship and NCAA Lubbock Regional. She posted a 78.65 scoring average (76.9 adjusted) over 17 rounds. Potter shot back-to-back 73s at the CAA Championship after entering the lineup for the second round. She earned her best collegiate finish (T22) at the City of Oaks Collegiate, where she recorded a collegiate low score in the final round (80-80-72—232).
Red-shirt senior
Taylah Ellems (Canberra, Australia) will compete as an individual at the Tiger Classic. A member of the 2023 Big South all-freshman team, Ellems owns a 77.1 career stroke average over 16 events. She produced her career-best finish (T9, 69-84-71—224) and low collegiate round last fall at The Southern. Ellems posted a 76.4 scoring average in the 2024-25 season.
