Camels set for home opener

BUIES CREEK - The Fighting Camels are set for their home opener during the Fairfield Inn & Suites Campbell Invitational. Campbell will host Ball State, Furman, and Stetson during the two-day, six-match event.

All three Campbell matches will be streamed on FloCollege.

Friday night will be Champions Night, with the unveiling of the 2025 CAA Championship banner. The first 200 fans in attendance will also receive a mini replica banner.

About The Field
Ball State brings a 5-0 record into the weekend, with notable wins over Notre Dame and Xavier. The Cardinals are receiving votes for the AVCA Top 25, marking the third straight weekend the Camels have faced a team receiving votes.

Ball State is led by Audrey Smith and Ava Greer, both averaging better than 3.4 kills/set. The defense is stout, ranking third nationally with 17.26 digs/set, led by Sophie Ledbetter's 4.89 digs/set, 12th most in the nation.

Furman carries a 3-3 record to Buies Creek, coming off a 3-1 setback against NC A&T. The Paladins did take a set from Georgia during the opening weekend in Athens, Ga.

The Paladins lean heavily on Izzy Castelloe on offense, with 86 kills and 270 attempts, more than double the next most attacks on the team.

Stetson also comes in at 3-3, with two wins over Bethune-Cookman and another over Merrimack.

The offense is led by Andrea Diaz Dominguez with 2.32 kills.et, while five other players have over 1.1 kills/set.

Last Time Out
Campbell went 1-2 at the GT Classic, toppling Southern Indiana last Saturday night. The Camels fell 3-1 to Georgia Tech on Sunday, nabbing the second set 25-22.

Emma McCartney notched 15+ kills in all three matches, including double-doubles against both Xavier and USI.

Looking Ahead
Campbell heads east to the No Quarter Invitational at ECU, where they'll face Maryland, Old Dominion, and ECU next weekend. The Camels play one match a day from Friday to Sunday.
