BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels will play host to a conference opponent for the first time in 2026 when they welcome CAA foe Elon to Eakes Athletics Complex Saturday evening. The first 75 fans in attendance will receive a pair of thundersticks to help cheer on the Camels.

The Camels dropped another one-goal decision last time out, falling to Wofford in a 2-1 outing last weekend. CU got on the board thanks to an own goal by the Terriers in the final 10 minutes but was unable to find the equalizer.
Elon is coming off a loss to UNCW last Saturday, but the Phoenix was picked first in the South Division of the CAA Preseason Poll after claiming the conference tournament last season. Magnus Jacobsen, Weston Jonke, Martin Kozak and Dominik Renz were each named to the preseason All-CAA Team, and Ben Madore was an honorable mention.
This will be the 28
th meeting between the Camels and the Phoenix. Campbell is 11-14-2 all time against its neighbors to the northwest. CU won, 2-1, when the teams faced off in Buies Creek last season.
CU opens the new season with fresh faces across the board, including a new boss in head coach
Ricky Davey. The first-year skipper comes to Buies Creek after serving as the associate head coach at Mercer last season. In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Davey has also proven to be a winning coach in the Atlanta United Academy program with its U14 and U19 squads.
Returning midfielder
Xander Martin was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as an honorable mention. He is one of the few returning faces, as the Camels welcome 18 newcomers.
The Camels rank second among all Division I teams in total minutes lost from the 2025 season (18,783) and percentage of minutes lost (94.9%).
