BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels remain at home for the fourth consecutive match, as the team hosts visiting rival UNCW Saturday night at Eakes Athletics Complex for another CAA tilt.

Campbell is coming off a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Elon last Saturday. The teams remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes, but the Phoenix opened the scoring with a goal from the penalty spot in the 50^th minute. David Skorodumov started in goal but picked up an injury in the 14^th minute. Kaeden Johnson finished the game between the pipes for Campbell.
 
UNCW dropped its first points of the season in a 1-0 defeat to NC State on Tuesday evening. The Seahawks have one-goal wins over Elon and William & Mary in CAA play. The team became the final Division I squad to concede a goal, doing so in its sixth match. The Seahawks are ranked #23 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and #25 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, and it's the first time in five years the team is ranked in both major national polls.
 
The Cape Fear River Derby is the most played matchup in team history for the Fighting Camels. Saturday marks the 61^st meeting between the two sides, with the Camels holding a slight 29-27-4 advantage in the overall series. The Seahawks won both regular season matchups last year, but the Camels were victorious in a 4-0 decision in the first round of the CAA Championship.
 
CU opens the new season with fresh faces across the board, including a new boss in head coach Ricky Davey. The first-year skipper comes to Buies Creek after serving as the associate head coach at Mercer last season. In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Davey has also proven to be a winning coach in the Atlanta United Academy program with its U14 and U19 squads.
 
Returning midfielder Xander Martin was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as an honorable mention. He is one of the few returning faces, as the Camels welcome 18 newcomers.
 
The Camels rank second among all Division I teams in total minutes lost from the 2025 season (18,783) and percentage of minutes lost (94.9%).
