BUIES CREEK, N.C. – No. 25 Campbell will travel to Central Michigan, also taking on American and CSU Bakersfield in the Chippewa Challenge on Sunday, January 16 at McGuirk Arena.

The duals will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Campbell against American and CMU against Bakersfield. CU will face Bakersfield at 1:00 p.m. while the Chippewas take on American. Bakersfield vs. American and Campbell against CMU will close out the day with 3:00 p.m. matchups.

All four programs involved in the event own strong Central Michigan ties on each coaching staff, including Campbell head coach Scotti Sentes (CMU class of 2013) and associate head coach Wynn Michalak ('08), American head coach Jason Borelli ('05), Bakersfield head coach Luke Smith ('08), as well as CMU assistant coaches Ben Bennett ('13) and Colin Heffernan ('18), who all wrestled under Chippewa head coach Tom Borelli.

Coming in at 4-2 overall, Campbell is ranked No. 25 in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll, as well as No. 5 in the first NWCA Mid-Major Top-20 poll, while four Camels are ranked individually heading into the weekend.

Josh Heil headlines the group, ranked No. 9 at 149 pounds, while a trio of Campbell's upper weights carry individual rankings, including No. 18 Austin Murphy at 174 pounds, No. 25 Caleb Hopkins at 184 and No. 25 Taye Ghadiali at heavyweight.

Last time out, Campbell opened its 2021-22 SoCon slate with a 47-3 win over Bellarmine, the program's 17th consecutive SoCon dual victory, a streak that dates back to the 2018-19 season.

At 2-2 overall, Central Michigan is also ranked No. 10 in the NWCA Mid-Major Top-20. American, meanwhile is 1-5 on the year, while Bakersfield owns a 0-3 record. In all, 10 wrestlers ranked in InterMat's latest individual polls are scheduled to wrestle this weekend.
