JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Dorcus Ewoi and Chastity Pickett punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships on the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries at Visit Jax Track.
Ewoi punched her ticket by running a 2:04.03 in the 800 meters. Despite finishing fourth in her heat, the Kitale, Kenya native posted the fifth fastest time overall in the quarterfinal round to advance. It marks the second-straight season Ewoi has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800m, earning second team All-American honors a year ago.
Pickett is headed to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career, qualifying in the 400m hurdles. She automatically advanced to the NCAA Championships after finishing first in her heat with a time of 56.88, the fourth-fastest time overall in the event quarterfinals. Pickett also ran in the 100m hurdles quarterfinals, failing to qualify for nationals in the event after finishing 15th with a time of 13.20.
Patience Marshall posted a discus mark of 49.08m (161') but missed out on qualifying for the national meet.
Ewoi and Pickett join the Campbell men's 4x100m relay team as qualifiers for the NCAA Championships held June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
