Women finish 3rd, men 4th at CAA Indoor Championships

NEW YORK - The Campbell women finished third and the Campbell men fourth in the program's first CAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at The Armory in upper Manhattan. 

Campbell won five individual events, had a clean sweep of two of them, and set four new CAA indoor records during the two-day meet.

Chastity Pickett was named the championship's women's track Most Outstanding Performer, and CJ McBride was tabbed men's field Most Outstanding Performer. 

Day One Recap
Camels broke two CAA indoor records during day one prelims. Jaidyn Ramsey clocked in at 7.31 in the 60m, besting the all-time CAA indoor record by 0.11, and the championship meet record by 0.14. Chastity Pickett and Aaliyah Harris finished second and third as Campbell swept the women's 60m prelims.  

Campbell earned points in a handful of field events, led by a pair of women's podium finishes. Lakelyn Bass finishing second in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.90. Destiny Bailey-Perkins got on the podium in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.04.

Chastity Pickett set the CAA record in the 200m with a 23.39. That record shattered the previous best mark of 23.88, and the meet record of 23.90.

A quartet of Camels logged the four fastest times in the men's 200m prelims, paced by Dominque Alexander's time of 21.03.

At the end of day one, the men sat in fifth place (16.5 points) and the women in eighth (14 points). 

Day Two Recap
A pair of men made it to the podium int he men's 60m. Hayden Cobbs finished second (6.71) Jamal Miller just behind in third (6.73). 

Three Campbell women completed a sweep of the women's 60m. Jaidyn Ramsey, Chastity Pickett, and Aaliyah Harris all made it to the podium paced by Ramsey's time of 7.25, a new CAA indoor and meet record. 

The men made it another clean sweep in the 200m along with a new CAA indoor record. The trio of Dominque Alexander, Jamel Miller, and Ja'Darien Parker took all three podium spots, led by Alexander's 20.90, good for an CAA indoor and meet record. 

The duo of Chastity Pickett and Jaidyn Ramsey went 1-2 in the women's 200m, including a new CAA indoor record. Pickett got to the line first with a time of 23.41, just ahead of Ramsey's 23.71. Both runners' times were better than the previous CAA indoor event record.

CJ McBride took home the top spot and set a meet record in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.25, topping the overall CAA indoor and meet records in the process, and is the first CAA athlete to ever clear 15m. 

McBride also took home the gold in the men's high jump, clearing 2.09m, a new meet record. Kaleb Johnson joined him on the podium in third place after clearing 2.00m. 

Brianna Clayton earned a podium finish in the women's 400m (54.84), and Jamel Miller did so in the men's 400 (47.68), each finishing in third place. 

Pickett and Ramsey added to their big days with second and third place finishes, respectively in the women's 60m hurdles. Pickett clocked a time of 8.26 while Ramsey finished in 8.35. 

The women wrapped up their time at the CAA championships with a third-place finish in the 4x400 running a 3:44.44.  

The men rounded out the day with a second-place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 3:10.32.
