BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell returns to the road this weekend for a pair of tournaments, traveling to the Life University Open (Powder Springs, Ga.) on Saturday, November 19, and the Army Black Knight Invitational (West Point, N.Y.) on Sunday, November 20.
THE FIELD
The Black Knight tournament will be hosted at Christl Arena and available to watch on
FloWrestling.
Other squads set to compete at West Point are Penn State, Hofstra, Columbia, Bloomsburg, Indiana, Brown, Central Michigan and Buffalo.
Campbell will also send 10 wrestlers to compete in the Life University Open, to be held at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga.
IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
As a team, the Camels are again receiving votes in the NWCA poll, while coming in at No. 29 in the InterMat dual rankings.
Individually, five Camels are ranked in the most recent InterMat top-33 at each weight class.
Taye Ghadiali comes in at No. 13, followed by No. 19
Caleb Hopkins at 184.
Austin Murphy is also No. 20 at 174, while Anthony Molton is tabbed No. 33 at 125.
Troy Nation, who made his debut in the individual polls last week, is No. 29 at 157 pounds.
HIXENBAUGH NAMED SOCON WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
After taking a win over a nationally ranked opponent in his season debut, Campbell's
Gabriel Hixenbaugh was named
Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Hixenbaugh posted a ranked win in his only match of the week, topping No. 18 Joey Melendez from North Carolina in a 7-3 decision at the Battle at Bragg. The win was the redshirt junior's season debut, overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the second period in the victory.
LAST WEEK
Nationally ranked Michigan and North Carolina defeated Campbell Friday night in the
Battle at Bragg, hosted by the Camels in conjunction with the United States Army, at the Pope Army Airfield at Fort Bragg.
The No. 5 Wolverines topped CU 26-6 to open the event, and the 16th-ranked Tar Heels dealt the Camels a 24-10 loss in the nightcap.
One day later, 10 Campbell wrestlers posted top-three finishes, including four individual champions, on Sunday at the
Georgia Open. Brant Cracraft at 165 pounds,
Cameron Andrews at 174, Conor Maslanek at 197 and heavyweight Chad Nix all won their brackets in the tournament, while Shane Quick at 184 and Brandon Hoselton at 197 took runner-up finishes.
