Edwards, Hayes add All-America nods from Phil Steele

16 Camels honored on publications All-Big South teams

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell standouts Mike Edwards and Jackson Hayes have both been named to Phil Steele FCS All-America teams.

Additionally, 16 Camels were named to Phil Steele's Big South All-Conference teams, including Edwards, Hayes and tight end Julian Hill earning first team honors. Edwards was also named Big South Offensive Lineman of the Year from Phil Steele.

Edwards was named third team All-America by the publication on the offensive line, while Hayes was tabbed fourth team long snapper. Both have been named to other All-America squads this week, with Edwards earning a spot on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) FCS Second Team, and Hayes being named Third Team Stats Perform FCS All-America.

Earning second team honors were offensive lineman Isaiah Burch, defensive ends Brevin Allen and Josh Johnson, linebacker CJ Tillman, defensive back Jonathan Jones, kicker Caleb Dowden, punter Corey Petersen and punt returner Josh McNeely.

Rounding out the list were quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams, running back Bryant Barr, wide receiver Austin Hite, linebacker Monchovia Gaffney and defensive back Dorian Jones with third team all-conference accolades.

A redshirt senior, Edwards, was named First Team All-Big South following the 2022 season, anchoring the left side of an offensive line that helped CU set a single season passing yards record for the second straight year. The Hope Mills native started Campbell's first nine games before being lost due to injury, pushing the Camels to 500 or more yards or total offense four times.

Edwards has also been named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 and Reese's Senior Bowl watch lists.

A Dillon, S.C. native, Hayes was named First Team All-Big South this season, handling every long and short snap for the Camels again in 2022.

Hayes, a graduate student, helped the Camels improve from three field goals made to a school record 14 this season, leading a special teams unit that topped the Big South in punt return defense, ranking second in the conference in net punting and 31st nationally without allowing a block all season.

He was also one of eight Camels to be named 2022 Academic All-District, selected by College Sports Communicators.
