JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Three Camels advanced to the next round of competition as Campbell completed the first day at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Visit Jax Track.
Andre Douglas started the evening in the 110m hurdles, improving his own school record down to a time of 13.82. Despite not qualifying for the event quarterfinals, Douglas will return on Friday to compete in the triple jump.
Andre Bent qualified for the 100 meter dash quarterfinals after running a personal best time of 10.18. Dominique Alexander just barely missed the cut by .04 seconds after finishing with a time of 10.25.
Alexander returned later in the evening and qualified for the quarterfinals of the 200 meters alongside Jamel Miller. Alexander qualified with a time of 20.67 while Miller finished with a time of 20.62.
The men's quarterfinal events are set for Friday. The top three from each heat along with the next three fastest times will advance to Nationals in Austin, Texas.
Campbell returns tomorrow as Chastity Pickett, Dorcus Ewoi, Patience Marshall and Destiny Bailey-Perkins are set to compete.
