JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Chastity Pickett and Dorcus Ewoi both qualified for quarterfinals of their respective events Thursday at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Visit Jax Track.
Pickett started the evening off by posting a 12.94 time in the 100m hurdles. The time is an improvement of her previous school record of 13.10w and is the second-fastest time in Big South history. Pickett finished as the seventh-fastest in the event and moves on to the quarterfinals.
Returning later in the evening, Pickett finished with the top 400m hurdles time among all runners after finishing in 56.54. Another improvement on her own school record, Pickett also set the all-time Big South record.
Ewoi ran a 2:06.62 time in the 800 meters, finishing third in her heat to qualify for the quarterfinals of the event.
Destiny Bailey-Perkins, who entered the long jump field as the 48th and final entrant, finished 14th overall in the event. Bailey-Perkins posted a personal best 6.14m (20' 1.75"), just missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Patience Marshall competed in her first of two events of the week as she posted a 15.33m (50' 3.5") mark in the shot put.
Several Camels return to action Friday for the men's quarterfinals for a chance to punch tickets to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
