ROCK HILL, S.C. - CJ McBride posted the top high jump mark in the country as Campbell finished competition at the Big South Outdoor Championships.
Both men's and women's teams finished second in the team standings. High Point captured both men's and women's titles while Charleston Southern took third.
Head coach Virgil Givens was named men's and women's Coach of the Year following the meet.
Zachary Stein-Drago was named men's scholar-athlete of the year. The Campbell thrower earned his undergraduate degree in finance with a 3.468 GPA and is working towards his MBA with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
McBride was named Men's Most Outstanding Performer for the meet after his high jump mark of 2.25 meters (7' 4.5"). The mark ranks first in the country and is a Campbell record and ties the all-time Big South record.
Andre Douglas was named men's Most Valuable Athlete. Douglas earned podiums on the track and in the field, taking the men's 110m hurdle title and finishing second in the triple jump.
IN THE FIELD
McBride cleared 2.25 meters on his first attempt, setting a meet record in the process to capture first place.
Patience Marshall took first in the women's discus with a mark of 49.94 meters (163' 10").
ON THE TRACK
Mason Askew, Andre Bent, Jackson Berndlmaier and Jalen Bristow captured first place in the men's 4x100m relay with a time of 39.62. The women's 4x100m relay team of Destiny Bailey-Perkins, Amanda Ballard, Taylor Cotter and Kailey Elliott took second place with a time of 45.60.
Dorcus Ewoi set a meet record in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 4:26.69, taking first place in the event. Ewoi would later take first in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:07.32.
Chastity Pickett took first overall in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.34. Pickett also took first in the 400m hurdles, improving on her own school record with a time of 57.28.
Andre Douglas set a school record in the men's 110m hurdles and took first overall with a time of 13.86 while Jaden Jenkins took second place with a time of 13.97 in the event.
Jamel Miller improved on his own 400 meters school record he set the day before, taking first place with a time of 45.95.
Campbell finished 1-2-3 in the men's 100 meters as Dominique Alexander took first with a meet record time of 10.20. Andre Bent took second in 10.25 and Jamal Miller finished third in 10.49. Alexander would later capture the men's 200 meter title with a new school record time of 20.29 followed by Jamel Miller in second with a time of 20.37.
Andre Leslie placed second in the men's 400m hurdles while Jaidyn Ramsey took second in the women's 100 meters. Ramsey would also take first in the 200 meters with a time of 23.49.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Destiny Bailey-Perkins, Amanda Ballard, Taylor Cotter and Kailey Elliott took third place after finishing in 3:47.97 to round out the meet.
