Hall of Fame
Three-sport letterman George Graybill was inducted into the Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame in October 1992. A native of Roanoke, Va., Graybill attended Campbell from 1948-50 and earned an associate of arts degree in 1950. Following graduation, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Carolina.

During his Campbell career, he served as team captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams in 1949-50. Among the highlights of his career was leading the Camels to the 1949 National Junior College Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.

Following his playing career, Graybill went on to teach and coach in the Roanoke area schools. In the ‘50s, Graybill coached Jefferson Senior High to a state football runner-up finish. He served as athletic director at Patrick Henry High School from its opening in 1960 until 1979. During his tenure, Patrick Henry won the state football title in 1974.

He retired from the Roanoke School System after a 34-year career. Graybill passed away Aug. 13, 2006 at the age of 79.
