Hall of Fame
Leanne Plum Mann, a former track and field standout, was inducted into the Campbell University Sports Hall of Fame in October 2004.
Â
A native of Florida, Leanne Plum Mann arrived at Campbell in the fall of 1982 as a decorated student-athlete and went on to become one of the University’s all-time great performers in track and field. She was a twelve-time high school all-state honoree in track and won two Florida State Championships.
Â
While also competing in cross country and tennis, Mann made her mark in track and field. She was a three-time All-American in the sport. In 1985, Mann finished second in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) heptathlon to earn All-America honors. She also gained All-America status in the javelin, both in 1985 and 1986.
Â
Nearly four decades later, Mann still holds school records in the javelin and heptathlon.
Â
Following her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in literature, communications-sales and marketing, she embarked on an outstanding cycling career. A 16-time North Carolina State cycling champion, Mann participated in the National Cycling Championships and ranked among the United States’ top eight cyclists from 1988-92. She participated in the U.S. Olympic Cycling Trials both in 1988 and 1992.
Â
Now with four decades of experience teaching, coaching, and implementing programs tailored for children and young adults, Mann resides in Rome, Ga., where she is a high school literature teacher and the owner/operator of Plum Crazy Outfitters and Dry Flyer Outfitters, companies which custom design guided fly fishing and hunting excursion packages.
