One of the greatest women’s basketball players in Campbell history, Tammy Brown Tew was inducted into the Campbell University Sports Hall of Fame in October 2002.

Three decades after her playing days ended, she remains the school’s all-time scoring leader, with 1,893 points during a career that spanned 1987-91.  She also set school records for field goals made and field goal percentage.  She was named the University’s Outstanding Female Athlete following both her junior and senior years.

Tew was selected as the Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year both in 1990 and 1991.  She was a two-time FASTBREAK All-America choice by the American Women’s Sports Federation.  Tew earned All-Big South Conference honors three times during her career.

The native of Fayetteville was a key member of Coach Wanda Watkins’ team that won the 1989 Big South Championship and, with Tew, advanced to the conference final three other times.  She set the conference all-time scoring record during her senior year and scored in double figures in the final 65 games of her career.

A 1991 graduate with a B.S. in Education, Brown Tew served as an assistant coach on the Lady Camel staff for one year.  She then entered the education field.

In 2006, Brown Tew was inducted into the Big South Conference Hall of Fame.
